A few words from the director:
"Regression comes from a personal place close to my heart. I live with my grandmother who suffers from Alzheimer's disease and I wanted to create something that represents the confusion of dementia from the sufferer's perspective. It takes its toll not just on the sufferer, but also on those around them, who must take on responsibility for their loved one as the dementia gradually becomes more pervasive.
Sometimes it would be distressing for my grandmother that we, her grandchildren, were responsible for her and not the other way around. Other times, we would get regrettably irritable with her, and she would not understand the reason for it. I think that having dementia can leave you feeling especially lonely at times.
I hope that with this film I can convey these frustrations to a degree and produce some sort of empathy for those affected by dementia."
